Female Specific Accommodation

Excel Housing Solutions strive to offer a wide range of female only accommodation options for females presenting with support needs, from shared accommodation to self-contained options.

We currently have accommodation options across Liverpool, Sefton, Wirral and Preston.

Our female gender specific service supports clients with complex needs and vulnerabilities. This includes women with offending behaviour and/or personality disorder / difficulties.

Our Accommodation is psychologically, and trauma informed, developed in consultation with clients and local services.  Staffed 24hrs a day, its aim is to create a therapeutic environment.  A place where clients can identify their strengths, with a focus on recovery. We aim to increase client’s wellbeing both physically and mentally, promoting empowerment and self-efficacy, helping them successfully lead a fulfilling life and being able to sustain tenancies.

Our mission is to listen to and value the experience of our clients whilst providing opportunities for recovery.  We aim to offer opportunities to our clients to contribute and become part of the local community.

Athena House

Athena House, situated within the Borough of Sefton, was established in direct response to the recognised gap in accommodation for survivors of domestic abuse who also experience multiple and complex needs such as substance misuse, mental health challenges, and offending histories. This specialist provision addresses an urgent need for dedicated, trauma-informed support that is not otherwise available in the area.

Developed as a collaborative initiative between Excel Housing Solutions, Venus Charity, and Sefton Council, Athena House places strong emphasis on fostering a sense of community and mutual support among residents. Clients are actively encouraged to participate in shaping the day-to-day environment, building peer relationships, and supporting one another through shared experiences. Regular group activities and peer-led workshops are organised to cultivate a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, empowering residents to contribute to a positive communal life.

Importantly, the voices of clients play a central role in the ongoing design and development of Athena House services. Residents are invited to provide feedback, share ideas, and co-produce aspects of service delivery, ensuring that the provision remains responsive to their needs and priorities.

A bespoke therapeutic package is available on-site, delivered by a specialist therapist with expertise in trauma responses, alongside dedicated emotional support and resettlement workers. This holistic approach ensures that clients receive tailored support throughout their stay and are well-prepared for a safe transition into longer-term accommodation when ready.
